YouTube Tuesday #3: A video simply titled “Ghana”

This is the number one video on YouTube if you type in Ghana.  It is a visually pleasing film with takes from throughout Ghana on their trip.  This video is great because it is edited to a nice beat and there are so many shots of different areas of Ghana from the streets of Accra, to Kakum National park, Cape Coast area, what looked like Shai Hills Reserve, Labadi Beach and the bonus at the end with the royal funeral.

The Royal funeral something that is not usually seen by casual travelers and makes this video really interesting.  Red and Black symbolize that it is a royal funeral, that is why everyone is clad from head to toe in it.  A Ghanaian funeral is a time for celebration of a the persons life, and often the dancers are dancing out different parts of the life of the deceased.  Funerals in rural areas are often the time the village comes together in the weekend and really do get into the swing of it.  Even some village that don’t have electricity on weekends, trucks will bring in generators, speakers, tents and chairs, it will sound like a concert in the village most of the weekend.  Funerals are big business in Ghana.  You can see the look on the Chiefs face at the end of the video that is probably why the video stopped there.
